Where exactly is this service going to
Heartland REMC, partnered with TWN Communications, will design a hybrid network consisting of both fiber optic and enhanced fixed wireless solutions. The plan is for ALL Heartland members to have access to at least a 25x3 connection when the project is complete. The wireless technology that will be deployed is faster and more readily available than the wireless that is deployed today. Members will be able to influence where fiber optic internet is deployed using an online pre-registration format that will track interest and demand.
Is this offered to homes and businesses?
Yes, this service will be available to both homes and enhanced solutions for businesses.
What does this mean for me?
This means that you will have access to an affordable reliable broadband service providing at least 25 Mbps of download speeds where only fixed wireless service is available, and all the way up to 1 Gbps or more where fiber is available.
What does fiber optic mean?
Fiber optic is a type of broadband connection consisting of or using thin flexible fibers with a glass core through which light signals can be sent with very little loss of strength.
What are the benefits of fiber optic?
SUSTAINABILITY - Not susceptible to most weather conditions (unlike satellite)
SPEED - Fiber optic service generally offers faster speeds than other technologies
What kind of speed does fiber optic
We will offer download speeds starting at 25 Mbps, going all the way up to 1 Gbps or more.
Is it more expensive than my
Plans start at $49.95* per month.
Will I be able to bundle Internet with
Yes. TWN Communications also offers digital phone service which includes UNLIMITED CALLS throughout the U.S
If Heartland is involved, will it affect
my electric rates?
No. This will not affect your electric rates.
Does fiber optics have a wireless option?
A fiber connection will bring service to your home using a cable-like cord, which will connect to a communications device installed inside of your home or business. For wi-fi, or wireless access within your home, a wireless router will be provided at the time of installation.
Will only one company be offering fiber
While there may be other competitors in the area, Heartland will be working with TWN to provide this service to members.

What is Heartland’s relationship with
Heartland has worked with TWN for many years to provide fixed wireless internet service to many parts of our service territory. TWN is now offering a new hybrid solution that will offer both fiber optic and enhanced fixed wireless services to all Heartland’s members.
If I switch from my current internet
provider, I’d like to know what assurances I have my rates won’t skyrocket soon
TWN has never utilized a “bait and switch” pricing tactic and will not do that in the future. The base price for services will remain the same, with negligible changes in tax or regulatory charges as they may occur.
Is the information collected shared with
The information collected is going to be used to determine what locations have the highest interest. It will not be shared outside of Heartland REMC or TWN.
Is this the best option available for
Fiber based service is definitely the best, but not only option for gaming. Fiber will provide a state of the art, fast connection with no interruption. Other technologies, such as fixed wireless will also work for gaming. Satellite service is the least reliable form of broadband service for gaming as it can be susceptible to latency (slow response) and weather conditions.
What will our plan options be? Will it be one flat rate, or will each plan
have data limits?
All plans options come with UNLIMITED data. The proposed residential plans are:
- 50 Mbps (fiber) - $59.95* per month
- 100 Mbps (fiber) - $79.95* per month
- 1 Gbps (fiber) = $119.95*
Cost of unlimited access?
There are no data caps for this service. You will have unlimited access.

Some providers say they provide
“unlimited” but after I stream just a few videos it slows to a crawl for the
rest of the month. Is this the same?
No! It’s not the same, TWN will not throttle speeds. What you sign up for is what you get.
Will TWN be digging up my property to
In some cases, yes if you have any underground utilities today, the new fiber connection will be underground as well. In addition, if you have underground utility rights of way crossing your property, TWN may also need to dig to bring fiber to other customers. We will make every attempt to ensure that these disturbances are minimal and as non-intrusive as possible.
Who maintains the service after it is
TWN Communications will maintain the network, provide technical support, customer care and invoicing.
Will I pay the coop for the service?
No. You will be invoiced monthly by TWN Communications.
Will local jobs be created as a result
of Heartland and TWN’s build out?
Yes. TWN will hire local technicians to maintain the network and install customers.
Will this service be available only to
This service will be available to anyone who has access to the fiber network or is within range of the enhanced fixed wireless platform, which is not limited to members.
